It's Friday!

Or as I like to call it: “Get Stuff Done” Day.
You know the one.
It’s that glorious day of the week where you try—emphasis on try—to schedule fewer meetings. If the calendar gods are smiling on you, maybe none at all. And suddenly, like magic, there’s space. Space to finally get to the work that’s been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for you all week. The work that couldn’t fit between back‑to‑back calls, Slack pings, and “quick questions” that were never actually quick.
Friday becomes the day to catch up.
To close loops.
To clear inboxes.
To make sure nothing spills over into the weekend like an overpacked suitcase.
But let me ask you something.
What are you forgetting?
Right—you.
All week long, you’ve been carrying tension. Deadlines. Expectations. Decisions. Conversations that took more energy than you realized at the time. Even good weeks are still weeks. They take something out of us.
And yet, when Friday arrives, we often treat ourselves like an afterthought.
We double down on productivity. We sprint toward “done.” We tell ourselves we’ll relax later—after just one more task. But if we’re not careful, that stress doesn’t clock out with us. It follows us straight into the weekend. Suddenly Saturday doesn’t feel restorative, and Sunday turns into a countdown.
So what if part of your “get stuff done” time was… taking care of yourself?
Not in a big, complicated, Instagram‑worthy way. Just in ways that actually help you release some of what you’ve been holding onto.
Take a walk.
Put your headphones on and listen to music—not background noise, but music that actually lands.
Breathe.
Reflect.
Remember a few positive moments from the week—yes, they’re there, even if you have to look a little harder.
A win that made you proud.
A conversation that mattered.
Something you learned.
Something you handled better than you might have a month ago.
Here’s the good news: you don’t have to carve out separate time for all of this. You can probably do it all at once.
Walk + music + reflection = multitasking perfection.
(Just maybe… don’t do the reflection part while stepping into traffic. Safety first.)
The point isn’t to be less productive on Fridays. It’s to be more intentional. To recognize that finishing the week well isn’t only about what you checked off your list—it’s about how you feel when you shut the laptop.
When you take a little time to decompress before the weekend officially starts, you give yourself a gift:
You show up more present for the people you care about.
You enjoy your free time instead of recovering from your workweek.
You start Monday without the emotional hangover of the previous five days.
So yes—get stuff done.
Close the loops.
Finish strong.
But don’t forget to take care of the one person who made all that work happen in the first place.
Before you sign off today, pick one small thing just for you.
Take the walk.
Press play on that song.
Breathe.
Reflect.
Then, if this resonated with you, share it with someone who could use the reminder—or drop a comment with how you plan to reset before the weekend.
Because productivity is important… but so are you.
Happy Friday.
